Updating the LM 2000 Help System

If you installed LM 2000 before mid-September 2003 you may not have the latest Help file.

Updating is quick and easy:

  1. Download lmhelp2000.zip from the "LM 2000 version 1.1 Updates" folder in the LM Files archive at Yahoo.
  2. Follow the instructions on this Web site's Updating Help page.
Download LM 2000 HELP update.

Then open the update package (a ZIP-file) with WinZip, UnZip, or a similar archiving utility. The picture below shows the contents of an update package in WinZip.

WinZip will show you the two files in the Help Updtate package, letting you scan them for viruses and view them before extracting them to the LM program directory.

Extract the two files in it to your Literary Machine 2000 program directory, overwriting the existing files of the same name. As an example of how to do this, the picture below shows WinZip's Extract dialog box.

Be sure to tell your unzipping utility which files to extract, where to extract them to, and whether to overwrite existing files of the same names.

How to update LM 2000 Help

  1. In the Extract to field, enter (or navigate to) the LM program directory.
  2. In the Files field, select All files.
  3. Check the Overwrite existing files option.

(The other options do not matter.)

Note: The default location for the LM program directory is "C:\Program Files\Sommestad\Literary Machine 2000\". At installation you had the option to install in a different location. If you did and cannot find the program directory now, open LM and choose Utilities > Show Database Location.
